Yesterday I finally saw this incredible model of Manhattan at New York's Armory Show. Hand carved on a gigantic 9-foot-long block of marble, this thing is overwhelming when you're in front of it. The detail is truly unbelievable. Check it out up close:

The piece is not new. It's part of a series of five called Little Manhattan created by Yutaka Sone from 2007 to 2009. This is the number 3 on the series and measures an incredible 21 3/4 × 108 3/8 × 33 1/2 inches (55.2 × 275.3 × 85.1 centimeters.) I wish I had a home large enough to have it.

High school is that boring stepping stone in life between grade school (when you have recess twice a day) and college (where you can skip class without getting in trouble). But wouldn’t getting your diploma be far more enjoyable if the minimalist covers on your textbooks were turned into trippy animations you could stare at through every class?

Henning M. Lederer is back with another series of 36 vintage books that he’s scanned and painstakingly brought to life with animated cover art. The only risk to having these in your backpack would be that they’re so hypnotic to stare at, you might regret tuning out all day once final exams roll around.
